Our people and

CULTURE

We try to keep things simple: hire the best people to deliver the work, and put the right people on the right projects. This means we put together multi-disciplinary teams to tackle specific client problems, and we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach.

And when we find the right people, we hope they’ll want to stay with us. We have some pretty progressive employment policies, and we’re a tightknit family – which means we look out for each other, we’re straight with each other, and we squabble over keeping the kitchen tidy.

    Adelaide started at Edge as an intern in the strategy department, after having previously interned at McCann. Quickly impressing the rest of the team, she was offered the role of Junior Planner, in which she’s excelled – working with clients such as Freedom, American Swiss, Moccona and Bupa Dental to assist in developing brand, communication and campaign strategies.

    Ongoing, Adelaide monitors social campaigns and conducts analytics reports for a range of clients including Amazon Prime, Nulon, Virgin Money and Zambrero. 

    She also has a love of design, with her major in object design at university producing a couple of wonky chairs and light fixtures!

    Grace is a zealous beach lover who finds that most challenges are best addressed after a dip in the ocean.

    Grace joined team Edge in 2019 after solo travelling around Europe for the most part of the previous year. A confident and dynamic Senior Account Manager, she is constantly striving to achieve outstanding results for her campaigns and clients. Looking after the Mitre 10, Auto One, Amazon and Wattyl accounts, Grace is passionate about bringing quality work to life and making sure the process of doing so feels effortless for her clients.

    Outside of work you can be sure to find her planning her next international getaway, at a gig or devouring a good book.

    Will Bassett

    In another life, Will was an account man. Working alongside clients to shift everything from condoms to carrots, booze to banking products, and supers to sim cards, he helped nurse a fair share of ads into the world.

    He then switched London for Sydney, where he was encouraged to apply for AWARD School. Since then he’s written copy and developed concepts for clients such as Telstra, NRMA, Uber, Bupa, Netflix and Amazon. 

    Outside of work, Will likes to think he’s good at surfing but accepts that he’ll never be the next Kelly Slater. Other semi-successful passion projects include kung fu, spearfishing and DJing.

    In David’s alternate reality he’s an architect – but one with a passion for the tools of the building trade. The bane of any builder’s life, David is obsessed by the merging of form and function. Back in the real world this translates to an adman who is driven by a deep desire for insights which inform comms strategies and a love of crafting creative work.

    Having traversed the marketing terrain from client side to agency world in multinationals, experiential and retail, Edge’s fusion of advertising and content is David’s platonic ideal.

    Outside work, you’ll find David in the surf… or finishing the renos.

    Katy is our cat with nine lives. Between being thrown off a sailboat in 35 knot winds, falling from cantering horses, and several more snow-related mishaps, Katy is a dab hand at landing on her feet and keeping the ball rolling whatever you throw her way.

    Having spent 6 years in London working across diverse industries from luxury and automotive to Government and media/publishing, she moved to Sydney with a few lives to spare to lead clients and multifunctional teams across FMCG, Retail, Telco, Pharma and Finance at  J. Walter Thompson. She returned to her Indie routes when she joined Edge in 2019.

    Richard Parker

    Rich is a strategic leader who is obsessed with results. He believes the best planners immerse themselves in culture, understand psychology, and can apply their thinking across any channel or discipline. Which is why he doesn’t complain (too much) when his wife makes him watch Love Island – but is equally likely to quote Camus in a client presentation.

    Rich spent over half his career in the UK developing campaigns for the likes of Captain Morgan, Agent Provocateur, ASOS.com, Aviva, Estée Lauder, Johnson & Johnson and Magners Irish Cider before moving to Australia to join Edge as strategy chief.

    Since then he’s worked with some of Australia’s biggest brands including AAMI, Bupa, Dan Murphy’s, Mitre 10, Optus and Woolies, winning awards at Mumbrella, Caples, AWARD and a shortlisting at the Effies – amongst others.

    Rachel has worn many hats throughout her 15-year career in advertising, from design to account services to project management and production. But her true passion lies in problem-solving, in adapting to the ever-changing demands of her job. Now, she’s the queen of creative solutions, and a one-stop-shop for all things production.

    A time-management maven who’s always quick with a dad joke, her first focus is taking care of people, and ensuring every piece of work produced is the absolute best it can be. Over the years, she’s worked for all the major players in the industry, BMF, BWM, Droga5 and most recently JWT, before joining Edge in 2019.

    If Nicole wasn’t the ED of Account Management, she would probably be the conductor of an orchestra. She thrives on connecting all the moving parts of the agency, solving problems and working with clients and multifunctional team members to deliver strong business outcomes, all in perfect harmony.

    Her career has offered her more diversity than a cereal variety pack with experience in most industries as she moved between Brisbane, London and Sydney. Prior to returning to Edge and the world of independent Australian agencies in 2019, Nic was the GM at McCann Sydney.

    A devout northern beaches fan, Nic is an unofficial brand ambassador for area (but open to sponsorship).

    Arguably the loudest person in the agency, Mil brings her philosophy of ‘you don’t really understand something unless you can explain it to your grandmother’ to her work. Despite her large noggin, Mil is a big believer in ‘two brains are better than one’ and takes a hands-on, collaborative approach on all of her projects. She has a passion for creativity and gets excited by ideas that genuinely make an impact. And hats that fit.

    Her career has seen her work on a number of iconic brands including Audi, Harley-Davidson, Bupa, Citi Bank, Netflix, Moccona and many more, across categories such as government, education and retail.

    When she’s not making yet another non-PC joke or wielding a 100+ slide Keynote, she can be found dangling somewhere between talus and rim on Blue Mountains sandstone, or taking photos on her Sony Alpha III.

    Simon Langley

    After realising, at the ripe old age of 20, that he was already 10 years too late to follow his dream of becoming an F1 driver, Simon – aka ‘Langers’ – set himself on a path to join the equally competitive world of advertising.

    Since then, a career spanning over twenty years has taken him around Australia and overseas working at some of the world’s best agencies, including AMV.BBDO London, Publicis Mojo, BMF, 303MullenLowe and Wunderman Thompson.

    One of the industry’s most respected and awarded creative leaders, he has used his mantra of ‘be hard on the work, but nice to each other’ to consistently guide agencies to create globally award campaigns for both creativity and effectiveness, on some of the world’s most iconic brands.

    When he’s not helping solve the problems that keep his clients up late at night, he’ll often be found staying up late himself (or falling asleep in front of the TV) watching the latest race on the F1
    calendar.

    Jiyan can be summed up in four words: “Big hair. Bigger opinions.” And it’s this tenacity and commitment to creating authentic content that makes her work so meaningful.

    Following stints with News Corp, Sky News and Temple & Webster, Jiyan now brings her storytelling savvy to the Costco Wholesale, Virgin Money, Wattyl and Amazon Prime teams. In years past, she’s had the pleasure of leading content creation for Edge’s award-winning AAMI Insurance and Logie-nominated Invictus Games accounts. Plus doing incredibly diverse and insightful work for a multitude of other brands, including Suncorp, Dymocks, Freedom, Weight Watchers, Petbarn, REX Airlines and Crown.

    Fergus Stoddart

    A restless entrepreneur, Fergus founded Edge looking to create something different. Anti 'agency fluff' and results-oriented, Ferg focusses on new business development and growth. He’s constantly searching for the best way to bring together digital experiences, technology, advertising and content to engage consumers in meaningful and measurable ways. 

    A pioneer of content marketing in Australia, Fergus still teaches the ADMA Content Marketing Strategy course, helping to guide the next generation of talent. 

    Outside of work, Ferg can be found in the water with his family or dancing recklessly at parties.

    Callum Foot

    Cal is a visual storyteller and compulsive creator, with a hands-on background in illustration, animation, graphic design and photography. He has worked with agencies such as The Monkeys and Infinity Squared, and created content for brands such as Sesame Street, Dominoes and Moccona.

    Cal has won awards for painting and illustration, animated music videos, and is responsible for ‘the best beer label design in Australia’. Cal joined Edge in 2019, after achieving 2nd place at Award School NSW. When he isn’t working, he’s is probably ‘researching ideas’ (bingeing movies), eating too much, or travelling to places with good food.

    A proud Melbournian, Rod is equally passionate about getting the best out of everyone he works with in a fun and collaborative way. While he doesn’t take himself too seriously (and is our resident whipping boy for endless follicly-challenged jokes), Rod takes his work very seriously – with an unrelenting focus on delivering outstanding, effective work.

    Having worked on many high-profile brands, Rod adds a wealth of experience across retail, automotive, financial and health services, entertainment and sport.

    Outside of work, Rod is an AFL (Carlton) fanatic and will happily share his granular analysis of the game. Other loves include fashion, food, single-malts and excessively long walks.

    According to Laurie, the best thing about working in advertising is that it never gets old – there’s always a new challenge, and there’s always a new way of solving it. She should know. She’s been coming up with fresh solutions to knotty problems for over 25 years and creating award-winning work for a huge range of clients, from corporate to government to not for profit.

    A big believer in making work that works, she’s just as proud of her Effies as she is of her Cannes Lions. And when she’s not writing for work, she’s writing for fun, scratching the creative itch with a series of personal projects.

    As Edge’s resident DJ, Jodie knows all about adapting to meet the requirements of different people with different needs. As a Senior Account Director, this solutions-focused approach to life means an ability to deliver efficient, effective work for clients.

    Hailing from the UK, Jodie has experience in a range of categories - from Superyachts, Automotive, Technology, Finance, to Government, so she always has a tale or two up her sleeve.  But Jodie’s experience and storytelling doesn’t stop there – make sure you ask her about her time in Afghanistan if you get a chance to meet her.

    After nine years in client-side marketing roles in Sydney and London, Peter decided to start his career in advertising. Since then, he’s won a number of local and international awards, tutored AWARD School students and eaten more burgers than he should have.

    He has a marketing degree from UTS, was awarded ‘Best Copywriter’ at Creative School and has studied screenwriting at AFTRS. He is passionate about great ideas and has a strong background in traditional and digital marketing having worked on clients like Telstra, Red Bull, Diageo and McDonalds.

    Inez Zimakowski

    Described by her colleagues as the one most likely to spill the tea, drop a knife, or break a meeting room door, and by clients as a ‘social guru’, Inez loves a good spreadsheet, hates dirt and is incapable of bringing her lunch to work.

    Her love of digital channels led her to work on one of the biggest paid social accounts in Australia with Harvey Norman, before joining Edge and becoming the automotive go-to in the team, which is somewhat ironic as she cannot drive.

    Like her fellow strategy team members, Inez is loud, passionate about delivering the best results for her clients, and can often be found muttering profanities at Data Studio, Ads Manager, and Keynote.

    Waiton Fong

    Waiton is a huge fan of comics and geek culture and feels like the world is finally catching up to him (j/k). His design aesthetic is all about balance and symmetry, with design and animation skills honed from exciting stints at studios in Australia and New Zealand. He believes in beauty and practicality in equal measure and brings this to his work.

    Outside of work, Waiton loves to draw and paint, self-publishes comics and exhibits in intimate galleries. He dreams of long sunny days and the sound of waves gently crashing outside his (future) beach-front studio.

    Daphne Zhang

    As recent marketing graduate from the University of New South Wales, Daphne is one of the newest additions to Edge.  Since joining the team in 2019, She’s hit the ground running with her philosophy of “work hard and be nice”, managing a mix of clients and working with the team to develop best-in-class digital and print communications.

    Daphne’s experience includes managing BAU for Dymocks, coordinating publications for Costco, Isuzu Ute and P&O, as well as campaign management for Bupa Dental. When she’s not in the office, she can be found hanging out with her gorgeous little pup, kicking the footy around in a game of oztag or being creative with some calligraphy.

    Caitlin Ammann

    Our resident Texan has spent much of her career on the media side of strategy, making her expertise in channel planning and creative and media integration an asset to the team. Caitlin’s passion areas include design thinking, facilitation, and start-ups.

    On weekends you’ll find Caitlin working towards her goal of visiting every national park in NSW, and she’s yet to find a craft she won’t try, from watercolour to woodworking.

    Donna believes hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard, and applies this work ethic to everything she does in order to get the job done.

    Following an internship whilst completing her Media and Communications degree at the University of Sydney, Donna’s tenacity landed her a permanent gig at Edge, where she gets to work on a range of clients like Moccona, Jaycar, Virgin Money Australia and freedom furniture.

    When she’s not creating keynotes with wacky animation transitions, you can find Donna road tripping along the coast or with friends at the pub enjoying a good bowl of.. you guessed it, sweet potato fries.

    Having moved to Sydney in 2014 to pursue an accounting career, Nina completed a Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Accounting in 2016.

    Since then, Nina has excelled in her 4 years as an assistant accountant, changing common perceptions of accounting with her energetic and bubbly personality. Describing herself as “nothing like Angela from The Office”, Nina strives to make her job the most exciting in the company. She also loves to socialise, particularly if gin and good food are included.

    In her professional and personal life, Nina enjoys being a problem solver, which she says keeps her life both interesting and rewarding.

    Yvie believes that the right words can change the world, and is driven to help brands find them. Before becoming a Junior Editor at Edge, she applied her passion for storytelling into content creation for small businesses, ranging from yoga retreats and skincare companies to auction houses and animation studios. Switching her tone of voice at the drop of a hat is still Yvie's forte, as she now gets to work her word magic for clients such as Costco, Amazon, Jaycar and Nulon.

    When she's not tapping away at her keyboard, Yvie's perfect day involves a long bushwalk with her sketchbook, a Neapolitan pizza and a good reason to laugh.

    Hoda loves all things numbers and is a great business partner to the agency. Being a CPA and holding a Masters in Accounting, together with 20 years’ experience making sure the numbers stack up in media and creative businesses, it is safe to say she knows the industry well.

    Hoda is highly experienced in supporting leadership teams to use finance strategically. She has a fun attitude and is passionate about the company’s finances and staff. She's also dog crazy and a soccer mum who curses the cold Saturday morning starts.

    Madeline Smith

    Madeline is a collaborative creative who loves working with brands to help them reinvent themselves. Her strength lies in finding unique and intuitive ways to engage an audience while injecting a beautiful aesthetic into everything she does. Over the years, she has worked on pretty much every category – from bras to bikkies, little babies to big countries, booze, banks, and everything in between. She has also worked extensively on some of Australia’s most loved brands, including Tim Tam, Bonds, and Australia itself.


    While her 20 year advertising career is littered with pitch wins and awards, when she’s not working, Madeline is more concerned with trying to avoid stepping on the tiny pieces of Lego that litter her home. Her regular yelps of pain indicate a low level of success.
